The manufacturer, as required by Article 14 of the PED Directive 2014/68/EU, must, prior to placing the product on the market and for the purposes of affixing the ‘CE’ marking, subject each item of pressure equipment or assembly to a conformity assessment procedure. Conformity assessment is the activity carried out to demonstrate that a product, process, service, person or system complies with or meets the specified requirements. ITS Controlli Tecnici S.p.A. provides product conformity assessment services for pressure equipment in accordance with the PED Directive 2014/68/EU. Specifically:

Controlsint, inspections on underground tanks containing LPG
Authorization by the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy of 24/07/2019
According to legal provisions and European standard UNI EN 12818 and also with ISPESL (now INAIL) Procedure for the control of LPG underground tanks having a capacity not exceeding 13m3 with Acoustic Emission method for the purpose of verification of integrity, ITS Controlli Tecnici provides the service of assessment of the structural integrity of LPG underground tanks using the Acoustic Emission Method (A.E.). The Acoustic Emission is a NDT (non destructive test), techniques based on the acquisition of ultrasonic waves generated by a material under stress due to irreversible event (damage, degradation, corrosion under stress) occurring during the test.
The assessment supplies by ITS Controlli Tecnici is for underground tanks with vertical or horizontal configuration, that have the following essential requirements:
- capacity not exceeding 13 m3
- metal membranes protected by a suitable system (coating with epoxy resins and sacrificial anodes)
- maximum pressure not exceeding 17,65 bar
- access to the pressure vessel, even if limited
ITS Controlli Tecnici with its own 10 Mobile Laboratories and specialized technicians, operates throught the entire Italian territory, including Sardinia and Sicily islands. Since 2005 ITS Controlli Tecnici has been tested more than 70,000 underground tanks.
